• When the temperature is low there is a chance that the plasti dip® will not spray evenly due to freezing. The best we could do is to place the spray in warm water for 5-10 minutes or heat it on a radiator. This the result is that the mixture softens internally and we get the smooth result we want.
  • Before proceeding to paint a car or a motorcycle with plasti dip® it would be good not to apply any ointment or wax beforehand because there is a possibility that the plasti dip® cannot be applied properly.
  • We never paint a car or motorcycle if it has been previously painted with factory paint. At least a year must have passed so that there is no problem with the varnish.
  • When we want to make a strip on a surface to achieve a straight line, we should remove the tape on the sixth “hand” (enough to get a good result) and while the plasti dip® is still wet. This is because the plasti dip® has the ability to liquefy again when it falls on an already painted surface. Otherwise, if we remove the tape when it dries, it will spoil the straight line we have created.
  • When spraying always keep the spray or the gun in a vertical position in relation to the surface. The distance should be 10-15 cm.
  • It would be good to spray in a place where there is no wind because there is a chance that the wind will carry the material and dry the dust in a place we don’t want. This results in the surface at that point not being smooth but having the texture sandpaper.
  • Always clean the surface thoroughly before painting and make sure there is no moisture in the various grooves.
  • In periods with low temperatures each “hand” needs more time to dry.
  • You can wash your car or motorcycle after 10 days without fear even with a pressure washer. In the first time you have to be a little more careful. As the days go by the plasti dip® becomes very strong. We recommend applying the special Dip Protect wax every one and a half about a month.
  • The ratio of thick plasti dip® with solvent in order to spray with a gun is 1:1. Now there is also the diluted plasti dip® spray which has a much better composition, coverage and durability and is sprayed directly.
  • To spray plasti dip® correctly, the paint gun should have a 1.5-2mm nozzle, the pressure should be low (1.5-2bar), it should be able to spray in a vertical open fan and the quantity should be adjustable because the first “hand” must be soft to make a base (covering about 50%). The remaining 6 “hands” should be rich.
  • At least 6 good “hands” must be applied especially when it comes to large surfaces like a car to be able to remove it in large pieces and without difficulty when we want to.
  • Never wash with active foam that is widely used in car washes. Use only plain soap.
  • Be very careful with gasoline. Contact with plasti dip® can discolor it. It is good to inform the employees at gas stations.
  • High Gloss Top Coat: Apply 3 good “coats” for the ideal result. Between each “coat” there should be about 30 minutes. The pass with the gun should be done quickly so as not to run. The smoother the plasti dip® underneath the greater the reflection of the high gloss top coat will be.
